Freedom Gardens is a community driven platform reconnecting people to growing food.  Freedom Gardens is a collective resource that shares the personal stories, wisdom, and knowledge of farmers and home-growers. Our vision is to help empower our community to grow thriving edible gardens to support their physical and mental health, and to provide relief from a volatile, centralized, and unjust food system.

It’s time to revive gardening as a civic duty during this moment of peril and crisis. To grow our own food is to protect ourselves from food insecurity and injustice, it is to live in freedom from a precarious and inequitable global food system. To get our hands in the earth is to boost our spirits, and to relieve our stress and anxiety. To connect with the land available to us - even if it is just a small pot of soil on our fire escapes - is to take our power back. To cultivate abundance in our own backyards is to create more resilient communities. To feed ourselves with fresh, untainted fruit and vegetables will empower us. To free ourselves from illness (both societal and physical), the time is now to grow stronger together and plant the seeds for a new world.

Starter Kits are HERE!

As our community grew, we noticed that many shared the same questions - where do we get seeds and how do we start growing?!

In response, we wanted to offer tangible resources to help you get started on your own Freedom Gardens!  We are so excited to announce our partnership with Halden, a family-owned company committed to farming quality, non-GMO and organic seeds.  Together, we curated a collection of seeds featuring three Freedom Garden starter kits: Fall Salad Seed Mix, Aromatic Seed Blend, and Flower Power Seed Mix.

FOOD SECURITY IS FOOD AUTONOMY

Ron Finley found himself driving 45 min round trip just to get a fresh tomato. So he took matters into his own hands and planted the parkway in front of his house with a vegetable garden - with that simple act, he transformed his neighborhood & his community. He started a revolution - and gave us something to aspire to with the freedom gardens movement. He says it best:

"OPERATE FROM HAPPY / PLANT A SEED / I WANT YOU TO GIVE A FUCK."

Let's re-design our world so that it nourishes everyone. Watch the interview here.
